How To Make A Tonic 2161 Cocktail Complete With Smoke Bubble - As Seen In Star Trek Discovery

The fifth and final season of Star Trek Discovery has begun airing and viewers across Paramount, Amazon Prime and Apple TV are all talking about the same thing - the viral Tonic 2161 cocktail that was created to celebrate the United Federation of Planets’ Millennium.

The intergalactic cocktail itself is presented as a blue liquid, with “floaty bits” that taste like Bajoran Jumja sticks to honour the Federation flag and its starry features. The drink is finished off with an extraterrestrial scented aroma filled bubble , that creates a dramatic smoke effect when burst.

Now for those of us earthlings who aren’t lucky enough to visit outer space to get their cocktail fix, don’t panic! We are here to bring the elusive Tonic 2161 to you!

Thanks to our top secret sources and expert team of mixologists, we have cracked the secret recipe so now you can make your own Star Trek themed Tonic 2161 at home!

Tonic 2161 is known to be dark blue in colour, with white sprinkles that taste like Bajoran Jumja. Bajoran Jumja is said to taste very sweet as it comes from tree sap - many people compare it to honey. For that reason, we will be including honey syrup in our recipe to recreate that sweet flavour, and using desiccated coconut to represent the white sprinkles. To achieve the dark blue colour shown in the original cocktail, we will be using a mix of Blue Curacao and Butterfly Pea Flower Infused Gin. Finally, for the cherry (or should we say bubble) on top - the mystical gas filled bubble used in Star Trek Discovery is actually a Flavour Blaster aroma bubble! Yes, that’s right - it’s not as far-fetched as it sounds, and it’s completely achievable here on Earth! Unlike the recent solar eclipse, Flavour Blaster aroma bubbles can be experienced by everyone thanks to their nifty handheld bubble gun

Now let’s get started!

Now let’s get shaking!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz Blue Curaçao
  • 1 oz Coconut Rum
  • 1/2 oz Honey Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 1/2 oz Butterfly Pea Flower Infused Gin (for the dark blue color)
  • Desiccated Coconut (for garnish)
  • Flavour Blaster Coconut Aroma Bubble (for garnish)
  • Ice

Instructions:

  • Prepare butterfly pea flower-infused gin by steeping dried butterfly pea flowers in gin for several hours or overnight until the desired colour is achieved.
  • In a shaker, combine the Blue Curaçao, Coconut Rum, Honey Syrup, Lime Juice, Pineapple Juice, and Butterfly Pea Flower Infused Gin.
  • Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously until well combined and chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice.
  • Sprinkle desiccated coconut on top of the drink to mimic Bajoran Jumja.
  • Add a Flavour Blaster Coconut Aroma Bubble using Flavour Blaster Bubble Gun to give the authentic smoke filled bubble that was seen on Star Trek Discovery!
  • Stir gently to blend the flavours before sipping.
  • Enjoy your Tonic 2161 cocktail like a true Star Trek fan!

Now go forth, enjoy your new Star Trek cocktail and live long and prosper! 🖖
